Juvenile defense disposition outcome caseflows updated

NCJJ data analysts have used OJJDP's National Juvenile Court Data Archive to develop a subnational sample of states that contribute data with details useful for considering juvenile defense.  The JJGPS Defense National Data  replicate aspects of a study conducted by Professor Barry Feld when he visited NCJJ as an OJJDP visiting scholar to the Archive in the 1980s and published The Right to Counsel in Juvenile Court: An Empirical Study of When Lawyers Appear in Court and the Difference they Make.  The JJGPS provides a useful window into a fundamental right published by Feld in 1989 with potential to grow in coverage and size over time.  However, far too few jurisdictions track usable data on access to counsel issues in juvenile court.
