Alaska is a mandatory P.L. 280 state except the Metlakatla Indian Community of the Annette Island Reserve, which is not subject to state criminal jurisdiction. Metlakatla, Barrow and Chevak have exclusive tribal jurisdiction over child welfare matters, which could apply. Indian country has been reduced by case law.
