Summary

In Kentucky, child welfare services including status offenders are administered by the Cabinet for Health and Family Services (CHFS) and nearly all community supervision is administered by the Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ). Currently, dual status youth are not identified at the state level; however, the state agencies encourage information sharing through the use of a Memorandum of Understanding between the DJJ, CHFS, the State Interagency Council, and the Administrative Office of the Courts (AOC). There is a collaborative state-level workgroup between Court of Justice (COJ) and CHFS which focuses on a number of topics related to youth involved in multiple systems (AOC, CHFS, and DJJ), which includes dual status youth. In Louisville, Kentucky (Jefferson County) the AOC is currently participating in the National Council of Juvenile and Family Court Judges' (NCJFCJ) Project ONE. As of 2014, the Project One team identified dually-adjudicated youth as their priority population.
